Eastern Mediterranean University, EMU, accused of opening unauthorized program and accepting illegal students

Eastern Mediterranean University, EMU, Famagusta rector and his assistants has been accused by the TRNC Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation and Coordination Board (YODAK) of opening an unauthorized program and accepting illegal students into it despite warning verbal warning from the Ministry of education and Culture.

The program, a joint dentistry and Medicine program with Iran illegally admitted students and started educational activities without the permission in the 2019/2019 academic year. 

YODAk in a statement stated that the programs are not included in the YOK approved quota guide and that this corresponds to a heavy crime under the higher education law.

The rector in a statement on Wednesday dismissed the claims describing it as misleading.
