Prisoner escapes from Lefkosa court in handcuffs

A prisoner who has been detained at the Lefkosa Central Prison escaped from the courtyard of the Lefkosa court on Thursday afternoon.

The defendant Mürsel Aydın, who has been in custody since June, 22, 2018 on the grounds that he raped three university girls aged 20 and 19 whom he met through social media and who was on trial at the Lefkosa Court, escaped with handcuffs after leaving the police car at about 2:30pm on Thursday.

Aydın was last seen in Lefkosa region known as the lodge garden. Police are conducting extensive searches in the area for him.

Those who see the subject should report to the nearest police station.
