Nicki Minaj has shocked the music world by announcing her retirement from music on Twitter Thursday sending her fans into meltdown. 

According to a tweet by the 36-year-old singer on Twitter, she's retiring from music to have a family.

I've decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, she tweeted.

In the box- cuz ain't nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE, she added.

Her fans have been left devastated by the news.

One tweeted: "I'm going to go cry now. We love you, Onika. Thank you... for everything."
