Illegal resident who came to the country in 2014 as tourist detained for not having a resident permit
An illegal resident in north Cyprus who arrived the country in 2014 with a tourist visa has been arrested for living in the country illegally.
The illegal resident, identified only as M.C was arrested last week in a raid by the police in Lefkosa.
He was brought before a judge at the Lefkosa criminal court on Saturday.
Police prosecutor told the court that the accused entered the country on July 27, 2014 with a 15-day tourist visa and continued to live in the country illegally after the expiry date.
Police said it is investigating what he has been doing since then.
He was ordered to remain in detention for three days.
