GAU pledges to reset its carbon footprint
The Girne American University in (GAU) Kyrenia has committed itself to resetting the carbon footprint by taking an important step for the climate and has signed the international protocol.
According to a written statement from GAU, the United Nations Alliance for Environment and Youth, the US-based Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (HESI), Second Nature and the UK-based EAUC for the Climate Summit issued by the University's Global Climate Urgency Declaration, GAU has signed a carbon footprint reset.
The United Nations Protocol on Sustainable Development Goals, a network of more than 7,000 higher education institutions on 6 continents, has three main plans.
In the disclosure, ineffective carbon emissions by 2030 or 2050 at the latest; It was noted that more resources should be mobilized to investigate action-driven climate change and to demonstrate activities, and training for environmental and sustainability should be increased between curriculum, campus and outreach programs.
