Two women and two students detained for violating military zone in north Cyprus

Two people who were arrested and detained for violating a banned military zone in Famagusta have been taken to court.

The suspects only identified as CB and CS, from Cameroon reportedly entered the northern part of Cyprus violating a military forbidden zone in Famagusta in July.

They were brought before a Famagusta court on Monday, August, 5 on charges of illegal entry into the TRNC from south Cyprus. 

Police investigation showed that the suspects are of Cameroon nationality and do not have any legal status in the TRNC.

Police demanded that they be detained for two months to allow for more investigation.

In a similar case, two students were also arrested and detained for violating a forbidden Military zone in Alsancak.

They were also taken to a court in Lefkosa on Monday.

The two accused were arrested by soldiers at about 11:00pm on Saturday, August, 23 for violating the First Degree Military Forbidden Zone in Alsancak.

They were ordered to remain in detention for a period of one month until trial.
