Serena Williams shockingly retires in the middle of Rogers Cup
US tennis legend, Serena Williams has left everyone speechless when she shockingly announced her retirement in the middle of Rogers Cup on Sunday.
The announcement comes just 20 minutes into the game at 3-1 of the first set of the 2019 Rogers Cup in Canada on Sunday.
Williams, 37, was left in tears after suffering back spasms as 19-year-old Andreescu comforted her courtside.
She was a break down in the first set when she withdrew.
Andreescu, who won her first WTA title at Indian Wells earlier this year, becomes the first Canadian to win the Rogers Cup women's singles title since 1969.
