North Cyprus government introduces card payment system for public transport in the country

North Cyprus government is set to introduce card payment system for public transport in the country. 

With the introduction of the ADA Card system, the use of electronic payment systems instead of money will begin in all public transport vehicles in the country soonest.

It has been announced that the electronic payment system ”, which has been tested by the TRNC Ministry of Public Works and Transportation for a while in line with the improvement of the public transportation system and incorporation activities, has reached a certain stage and the name of the new system to be used in all public transportation vehicles throughout the country will be“ ADA Card ”. 
 
According to a statement by the Ministry, with the implementation of the ADA Card system, the use of electronic payment systems instead of money in all public transport vehicles will begin. 
 
ADA Card, which can be sold and refilled at many points of sale, newspaper kiosks, kiosks and similar points throughout the country, will also be in service with application that will work on smart phones. 
 
With the new system, passengers can pay the exact amount on distance covered and prevent possible over-payment of users; as well as tax losses in this area, aimed at preventing leakages. 
 
The new system is aimed to be implemented in all regions starting from the beginning of 2020.
