North Cyprus announces new minimum wage
The government of the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus has set a new minimum wage at 3,400 Turkish Lira and 2,958tl net a total of a 250 TL increase.
The Minister for Labour and Social Security Faiz Sucuoğlu made the announcement after the three and a half hour meeting was completed with the Minimum Wage Determining Commission.
Sucuoğlu said that an 8 percent increase was agreed upon after the voting process had been completed.
5 yes votes were received by state and employee representatives while the employers unions gave 3 neutral votes.
The new minimum wage will come into effect as of the 1st of August.
