Kazakhstan woman kills her child, then tries to kill herself in south Cyprus
A 12 year old child was found dead and his mother injured inside a flat in Yeri, Nicosia, south Cyprus on Thursday.
According to Greek Cypriot police, the scene was discovered at lunchtime.
The boy was found dead in his bed at home in Yeri. The mother was rushed to a Nicosia Hospital in serious condition and is undergoing surgery after reportedly trying to kill herself.
Reports suggested the woman from Kazakhstan had killed her child and then tried to commit suicide.
Police are investigating the situation.
The woman and child were found after the 52 year old Greek Cypriot husband — who is the child’s step father and a policeman — called the fire services to gain access to the locked apartment which he had been unable to enter earlier on Thursday.
According to her husband, the woman faced various health issues before the unfortunate incident.

From initial inquiries it appears we have a family tragedy, the Cyprus CID chief said.
