Illegal real estate agents in North Cyprus increases, students inclusive
The increase in the number of illegal real estate agents in North
Cyprus has taken on frightening dimensions, chairman of the Turkish
Cypriot Real Estate Agents Union Hasan Sungur has said.
According to him, no controls had been put in place by the government and there is a big crisis because students from Arab and African countries, as well as a considerable number of Russian students are calling themselves real estate agents.
He also argued that waiters, taxi drivers, restaurant owners, casino owners and persons from other professions were trying to earn money from the real estate business, adding that the number of illegal real estate agents has increased from a few hundred in September 2018 to a few thousand in September 2019.

The quality of the profession of real estate agent has fallen below zero. […] We are on the verge of a danger like the ‘British fraud crisis’ [Gary Robb property scam] which stigmatized 2005, 2006 and 2007 and has shaken the country, he argued.
