Woman caught trying to enter south Cyprus with a fake passport

An African who was caught trying to cross over to south Cyprus through the Lokmaci crossing point in Lefkosa with a fake French passport has been detained by the Turkish Cypriot police.

The suspects who was held at the crossing point at about 3:00pm on Tuesday, July, 30 was accused of trying to enter south Cyprus with a French passport belonging to someone else in Lefkosa.

The suspect, a Cameroonian was taken to a court in Lefkosa on Wednesday July, 31 on charges of impersonating someone else.  

Police said she was caught red-handed trying to impersonate someone else by giving a French passport to the immigration official at the Lokmacı crossing point.

She gave voluntarily statement to the police and handed over her Cameroon passport to the police.

She was ordered to remain in detention for a period not exceeding one month.
