8 arrested for drugs, cat seized from suspect and two arrested for illegal residency in north Cyprus
Eight people were arrested for unlawful possession of drugs in various parts of the country during an operation to combat crime in the country.
During the drug-related operation, a wild cat was found at the disposal of one of those arrested.
The cat was delivered to Tashkent Nature Park authorities under the control of the Veterinary Department and Customs and Excise Department.
Two people who escaped from a car accident caused by a flat tyre, a driver and a passenger were arrested after patrol police found drugs in their car.
A 21-year-old was also arrested in Hamitköy at about 10:30 pm on Monday after a search carried out by the Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate found a substance weighting 1 gram believed to be a banned substance.
Another person was arrested in Famagusta at about 10:45pm on Monday during a raid by the police to combat crime in the country after 3 grams of substance believed to be a synthetic cannabinoid type drug was found on him.
Four other people were also arrested in separate drug operation.
Two people who were found to have been residing in the TRNC without a resident permit were arrested between Monday and Tuesday by the police.
