Two arrested in Girne and Lefkosa for illegal residency, over 320 arrested so far since January

At least two people were identified and arrested for living in the TRNC illegally in an inspection carried out nationwide to fight against crime and illegal residency in the country.

Two people were identified and arrested in the raid on Saturday night that lasted until early Sunday morning. 

One was arrested in Girne and the other in Lefkosa.

A total of 326 illegal residents have been identified and arrested in between the period from January 1 to June, 30, 2019 as authorities intensify all efforts to rid the society of crime and miscreants.

Among the 326 arrested, 72 were arrested in Lefkosa, 147 in Famagusta, 66 in Girne, 30 in Gulzelyurt and 11 in Iskele.

123 of the 326 were arrested in the period between June 17-30 when the operation was launched.

Also, legal proceedings have been initiated against a workplace that plays music without permission and a total of four workplace operators found not to comply with the closing hours.
