Murder suspects to remain in prison for another 4 days, 1 released
Five people arrested and detained in connection with the murder of Nigerian student, Obasanjo Adeola Owoyale has been given another 4-day detention order and one released from custody after he was found to have no connection with the murder.
11 people were arrested on Thursday, July, 11 in connection with the murder of Nigerian student, Obasanjo, 33 who was found wrapped in a blanket in the trunk of a car parked in an open space on a school road in Lefkosa on July, 8, 8 days after he was declared missing.
Autopsy result showed that he died from brain injury and cuts to the head.
Police found blood stain on a carpet and the wall of the apartment and took a knife believed to be a murder weapon in investigation carried out on the apartment where the suspects were arrested.
Several people were questioned during the investigation and 38 statements collected.
Analysis result of the materials collected from the apartment matched the blood stain on the items with that of Obasanjo.
Police noted in court that 36, 241 Euro was withdrawn from the victim's account during the period. The account was transferred to the court for investigation
Six of those arrested have been released and the remaining five were ordered to remain in detention by a Lefkosa court on Monday, July, 29 for more investigation to be carried out.
They will be brought to court again on Friday, August, 2.
