Inspection on vehicles to prevent driving under the influence of substance to commence in north Cyprus soon

Authorities in north Cyprus has started work for the regulation on the inspection and detection of drivers driving under the influence of substances including alcohol.

Last week, the TRNC Traffic and Transport Services Commission decided to make a legal arrangement for the inspection and detection of drivers driving under the influence of substances.

Kemal Bağzıbağlı, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, who chaired the commission meeting, said: 

The necessary legal work will be completed promptly by the commission and forwarded to the Council of Ministers.

After the legal arrangements in the coming period is approved, inspections on vehicles and drivers will be carried out by the police organization using technical devices.

This will help reduce driving under the influence of substances and increase safety on the road.
