Girne American University (GAU) student among those kidnapped from a Turkish ship in Nigeria

It has been revealed that one of the 10 Turkish crew members aboard the Turkish ship that was attacked off the coast of Nigeria last week was a Maritime student at the Girne American University (GAU) in North Cyprus.

Last week there was an attack on a Turkish Paksoy-1 cargo ship, between Douala Port of Cameroon to Abidjan Port of Ivory Coast near Nigeria with 10 crew members kidnapped. It happened that one of those kidnapped is a 23-year-old Maritime and Transportation Department student at GAU.

The student is married and has a 4-year-old child. 

Hasan Hüseyin Karakurt, had joined the ship's crew to do an internship.

Rescue work is on going to rescue the crew members.
