Case against six of the 11 people arrested and detained in connection with the murder of Nigerian student, Obasanjo Adeola Owoyale has been extended for another six days while five of them were released with no cases against them.

Obasanjo, 33 was found dead and wrapped in a blanket inside the trunk of a car parked in an open area on a school road in Lefkosa, 8 days after he was declared missing on July, 1.

An autopsy report revealed that he had a knife cut on the head and died from brain injury and broken head bones.

Following the incident, police launched a wide scale investigation and on Thursday, July, 11, they arrested 11 people in an apartment building located just about 200 meters from where the car was found.

Police found blood stain on the wall of the apartment and took several items including a knife and a blood stained carpet as exhibit from the apartment which were sent to Turkey for examination.

The results of the analysis marched the blood on the items with Obasanjo's blood.

Over 21 people were also arrested and questioned during the period of investigation.

The suspects were brought to court twice with the court granting police's request for an extension of their detention period to enable them carry out more investigation into the incident.

Police prosecutor said he took statements from 38 people during the first three-day detention period.

The 11 suspects were again brought to court on Tuesday, July, 23 after another detention period of 8 days expired.

Lawyer representing them told the court that his clients were violently assaulted while in detention and asked that a doctor be allowed to examine them.

The judge granted his request and ordered that a doctor be allowed to examine the suspects.

Five of them were released from detention with no case brought against them in connection with the murder.

Six others were given a new six day detention order as police continue investigation into the matter.

Police investigation revealed that Obasanjo was murdered over a dispute for 32,000 Euros.
