Student arrested in Lefkosa for raping friend
A 31-year-old student has been arrested and taken to court on charges of raping his friend in Lefkosa, north Cyprus.
The accused, a student in the country was arrested on wednesday and taken to a court in Lefkosa on Thursday on rape charges.
The police officer who testified in court, stated that the accused, a resident of Küçük Kaymaklı, invited the woman to his house on June, 3 at 8:00pm and raped her after the pair drank alcohol together.
The accused voluntarily testified to the police, said the police report but the statements still need to be taken.
Senior Judge Cenkay Inan, ordered the suspect to remain in custody for 1 day in order to conduct the investigation safely.
