Woman had medical clamp inside her for 23 years after CS
A woman discovered a medical clamp had been left inside her body by surgeons during a caesarean operation 23 years ago.
Ezeta Gobeeva, 62, has been in acute pain ever since the operation during birth in 1996, but doctors blamed it on liver problems and prescribed her painkillers.
But after continued pain, she was finally granted an X-ray which revealed the six inch surgical clamp in her abdomen.
Ezeta, of Ossetia, Russia, explained how a stunned radiographer first assumed the patient had accidentally brought scissors into the X-ray room.
Ezeta said:
Ezeta, 62, has experienced years of acute pain which doctors blamed on liver problems.
She added:
The clamp – which resembles a pair of scissors and is used to hold tissue or secure surgical swabs – is still inside Ezeta’s body until she can have an operation to remove it.
She said:
According to local news in the region, the health ministry has launched an investigation.
North Ossetia health ministry spokeswoman Irina Abaeva said:

She said “It shows scissors, you have scissors inside you”. ‘”What scissors?” – I asked.
She showed me the X-ray image. I remember nothing after that.

I was crying, I was in hysterics. For so many years I was tortured.

She said:
These pains were hellish and terrible. I am still on medication.
According to local news in the region, the health ministry has launched an investigation.
North Ossetia health ministry spokeswoman Irina Abaeva said:
The investigation is in progress. The minister is personally supervising the situation. The authorities will pay for any charges to remove the clamp, the spokeswoman added.
