Drug related crime on the increase in North Cyprus
Drug related crime, the most common type of crime dealt with by the TRNC Heavy Penalty Courts has continued to rise year after year.
A large number of young people charged with drug related crimes
appear in court every year. There has been a 7.4 per cent increase in
this type of crime compared to 2018.
Despite the decrease in the total number of cases appearing before the Heavy Penalty Courts, drug related crime constitutes over half the court’s workload.
