Dolphin found dead from waste washed up on the Çatalköy coast, north Cyprus
A DOLPHIN found washed up on the Çatalköy
coastline had a stomach full of debris including plastic and fishing
line which was believed to have led to it being infested by parasites.
The 2.6-metre-long corpse of an adult male bottlenose dolphin was discovered by a member of the public who reported it to the Taşkent Nature Park Wildlife Support Line, on 1190.
A similar stranding was reported in March 2017 at Çatalköy's Shayna Beach and was buried by the local municipality without the animals' body being examined.
