24-Year old Nigerian student drown in a dam in Geçitköy, North Cyprus

The body of a 24-year old Nigerian student who drowned while swimming in a dam in Geçitköy after he went missing on Saturday morning has been found.

According to police statement on Saturday, Kubiat Abasi OKON was among a group of students camped around the Geçitköy Dam, when he disappeared from the pond at about 9:00 am on Saturday morning.

His body was later found at about 12:45pm following a search operation carried out by civil defense and police special force.

Investigation on the incident is ongoing.
