18-year-old Congolese student dies in Lefkosa, students staged protest
An 18-year-old Congolese student has died in Lefkosa, North Cyprus after a brief disturbance.
The student identiifed as Mukongo Malundu, a citizen of the Democratic Republic of the Congo died at the Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosa at about 7:00am on Sunday after he took ill in his dorm room in Haspolat and was rushed to the hospital.
Unconfirmed report reaching us say he died due to neglegience by hospital workers.
He is said to have suffered from a disturbace on Saturday but died hours later at the hospital.
The Congolese students society on Monday morning staged a peaceful protest in CIU calling on authorities to do something about descrimination faced by Congolese students in the country.
Police are investigating the incident.
