Student with no residence permit caught with drugs in Famagusta, jailed for two months
A young Nigerian student has been arrested and detained after police found drugs on him in Famagusta.
The student, a 26-year-old was arrested last week following a search by Turkish Cypriot police patrolling the area.
Further investigation by the police revealed that the student does not have a resident permit and had not renewed his student status since September, 2018.
Police said about 237 milligrams of the synthetic cannabinoid type drug wrapped in bet paper and half-smoked wrapped cigarettes that contained 66 milligrams of drugs were found on the right front pocket of the sweatpants.
He was sent to prison for 2 months until trial.
