Student found dead in Haspolat suffered head trauma due to serious beating, police launch wide scale investigation across all uni.
An autopsy carried out on the unidentified African student who was found dead at the Haspolat forest area in the early hours of Friday showed that he may have died from head trauma as a result of severe beating.
According to police report after the autopsy result was released, the student suffered from head trauma, cerebral hemorrhage and loss of breath as a result of being choked.
Police said the nationality and identify of the student believed to be between the age of 25-30 could not be determined at the time of the report.
No identity was found on him while two student union leaders, from CIU called to the scene were unable to identify the body.
According to the report, the autopsy result showed that he was murdered. Further examination of the scene revealed that he was brought there in a car.
His body was found three hours after he was murdered, said the report.
The police said it has launched major investigation across all universities in the country.
The body has been deposited in a mortuary in Lefkosa while investigation continues.
A report by Turkish Cypriot daily, Havadis said a reviewed camera image of the area showed that there was a car in the region in the weird hours of the night.
