Iranian prisoner imprisoned for drug crime escapes from Lefkosa hospital

An Iranian prisoner named Mohamed Amine Khereoub who was awaiting trial for for drug crime has escaped after he was taken for treatment at a hospital in Lefkosa for appendix on Thursday.

The prisoner who had been in detention and awaiting trial for drug charges was being treated at the Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital when he fled through the toilet window on Thursday morning and search are underway to find him.

Police in a statement urged the public to report to the nearest police station if found.
