Drunk man beat girlfriend up in north Cyprus because of jealousy and fired gun shots to scare her

A drunk man who beat his girlfriend because of jealousy and fired two gun shots in the air has been arrested by the Turkish Cypriot police.

The news of violence against the woman happened at about 4:00pm on Sunday in  Karaoğlanoğlu region in north Cyprus.

He reportedly assaulted his girlfriend while under the influence of alcohol, a police report said.

Police said the accused, Hasan Okyunus, who stated that he beat his girlfriend because of jealousy and illegally fired two shots by a shotgun, also reportedly tested to 117 promiles of alcohol.

He was brought to a Girne court on Sunday on charges of Saving and Using Firearms," ​​"Open Fire in the Residence", "Serious Impact" and "drunkenness" and a 3 days' imprisonment was ordered against him.
