Air traffic at Ercan airport steadily increasing over the years
The number of passengers using Ercan airport has been steadily
increasing over the years, the TRNC Civil Aviation Department has announced.
Figures released by the Civil Aviation Department show that a total
of 4.2 million passengers flew in and out of Ercan Airport in 2018 as
compared to 758,740 in 2011.
However, a drop in the number of flights has been recorded over the past two years.
While a 13.5 per cent drop in flights was recorded for the first three months of this year compared to the same period last year, a 5.08 per cent increase was seen in transit flights.
The impact of the global economic crisis in 2016 was also felt in air transport in the TRNC.
The number of passengers and flights has fallen since.
