Student jailed for 9 months for breaking into a house in Hamitkoy

A 19-year-old Nigerian student who was arrested in December, 2018 and tired for breaking into a house in Hamitkoy, Lefkosa, North Cyprus has been sentenced to nine months in prison by a Lefkosa court.

The accused, a student in one of the universities in Lefkosa was given the prison sentence on Wednesday.

The defendant, on December, 25, 2018 entered a house in in Hamitkoy by unlawfully and intentionally breaking through the aluminum fence.

Delivering judgement in court, the judge said no one has the right to enter the residence of another person without permission to violate their property.  He noted the the issue was a widespread crime and as such the accused should be given an appropriate punishment as deterrent before giving him a nine months prison sentence.
