Police officer arrested in south Cyprus for stealing from a lost wallet
The Greek Cypriot police on Sunday arrested one of it's own ion Limassol on suspicion of
stealing from a wallet that a member of the public had found and handed
over to the authorities to be returned to the owner.
According to a report by Cyprus Mail, the 51-year-old police officer was questioned and released to be charged at a later date, police said.
The alleged theft took place in Limassol on Friday after someone handed to police a wallet containing cash, which they had found.
Some of the cash went missing later and suspicion fell on the suspect.
The case is being investigated by the force’s internal affairs service.
