More than 28 people detained for illegal stay in north Cyprus after police raid in Girne, Gazimağusa, and Güzelyurt
The Girne Crime prevention team on Tuesday night arrested and detained over 20 people including students for various offense.
Over 20 people, all foreigners and students were arrested in the five-hour long operation that started at about 9:00pm at the Girne Port for offenses including illegal stay in the country, and drinking alcohol in public place.
All accused were taken to court on Wednesday.
Also, eight people were arrested for staying in the country illegally in a similar raid carried out in Gazimağusa, and Güzelyurt on the same night.
The operation was also carried out in casinos where 10 people were banned from entering and places where alcohols are sold.
A business place without permit was also shut down in Famagusta.
In the same vain, 900 vehicles were checked and 286 vehicle drivers were booked for various crimes and 6 vehicles banned from traffic due to various offenses.
Students are advice to go get their resident permit as soon as possible and avoid high risk places, be of good behavior and be law abiding.
