Man who stole his host money and fled the country arrested on his return

Man who stole money from a friend he stayed with in north Cyprus and then escaped the country has been arrested on his return.

The accused, Ali Serkan Üs, who stayed as a guest in a house, stole the money the host kept in his pocket and escaped abroad. He was caught and arrested on Friday when he returned to the country.

He reportedly stole 100 US Dollars, 50 Pounds and 100 Turkish Liras in cash from the pocket of his host.

He was brought to a court in Lefkosa on Saturday on charges of theft.

He reportedly committed the crime in June, 2018 in Yenikent, Lefkosa while staying with his host.

The court judge ordered that he remain in detention at the Lefkosa Central Prison for not more than 20 days.
