Cyprus among top 50 world’s happiest countries, TRNC is 64th, Nigeria 85th

Cyprus has been ranked 49th on the list of the world’s happiest countries, far higher than previous years, while north Cyprus is is ranked 64th according to the latest World Happiness Report published on Wednesday.

In 2017 Cyprus ranked 61st while in 2016 it was 65th.

The happiest country is Finland, leading a top ten that is made up of five Nordic nations with Denmark, Norway, Iceland and the Netherlands completing the top five.

North Cyprus is ranked 64th.

The World Happiness Report, released today, ranked 156 countries by happiness levels, based on factors such as life expectancy, social support and corruption.

But while the Nordic nations of Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Iceland topped the table, there was no sign of Britain in the top ten. 

Nigeria is 85 on the list.

The report is produced by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network in partnership with the Ernesto Illy Foundation.

It is based on respondents’ ratings of their own lives which the report also correlates with various life factors.

The 2018 report focuses on happiness and the community: how happiness has evolved over the past dozen years, with a focus on the technologies, social norms, conflicts and government policies that have driven those changes.
