Bill Clinton invites 8-year-old Nigerian Chess Champion to his office
Former President of the United States of America, Bill Clinton has invited 8-year-old Nigerian Chess Champion Tanitoluwa Adewumi, who is also a refugee, to his office.
Tanitoluwa was displaced from his home and became a refugee in the United States. He lives in a New York City homeless shelter but, in spite of his situation, went on to impress the world at the chess competition.
Bill Clinton praised him for his talent and has invited him and his parents to his office.
Bill Clinton tweeted:
Tanitoluwa was displaced from his home and became a refugee in the United States. He lives in a New York City homeless shelter but, in spite of his situation, went on to impress the world at the chess competition.
Refugees enrich our nation and talent is universal, even if opportunity is not.
This story made me smile. Tanitoluwa, you exemplify a winning spirit – in chess and in life. And kudos to your hardworking parents. You all should stop by my office in Harlem; I’d love to meet you.
