Man fined €400 in south Cyprus because of his barking dogs
A dog owner in south Cyprus has been fined €400 and will pay for legal costs
after his neighbours complained that the dogs barking was keeping them
up at night,.
According to the report by Greek Cypriot daily, Phileleftheros on Wednesday, the fine was upheld by the Appeal’s Court after the dog-owner appealed against the ruling of a lower court.
The man had pleaded guilty to having a dog without a licence and was fined €150. However, he denied he allowed his dogs to cause a disturbance.
Neighbours testified that the dogs were causing a disturbance late at night and their testimony was accepted as reliable. The accused was fined €400 and ordered to pay €180 in legal fees.
He appealed but the Appeals Court ruled against him saying that the witnesses testimony had been consistent and clear.
