Cyprus Talks: Leaders of the divided island to meet on 26 February
Leaders of the divided Cyprus island, President Nicos Anastasiades of Greek Cyprus and President Mustafa
Akıncı of Turkish Cyprus are set to meet on 26 February to discuss a possible way to resume negotiation between the two sides.
According to a report by Turkish Cypriot daily, Yeniduzen, president Mustafa
Akıncı and President Nicos Anastasiades will have an informal
meeting on Tuesday 26 February at the residence of the UN
Secretary-General’s Special Representative and Chief of the UN
Mission in Cyprus Elizabeth Spehar.
Meanwhile, Nicos
Anastasiades has said that Akinci's demand for
political equality leads to political inequality, arising from the
demand of one side to overrule the other side.
He noted that political equality for the
Turkish Cypriots had been recognised for decades.
