Anger over ‘astronomical’ power bills in TRNC
“Astronomical” electricity bills slapped on
homes and businesses around the country have sparked uproar among citizens and
the TRNC Parliament.
The sharply higher demands sparked fears of a stealth rise in tariffs,
but Economy and Energy Minister Özdil Nami assured MPs in the Assembly
that the apparent “hike” was down to an accounting glitch which meant
the bills covered 39 days, rather than the normal 30.
