TRNC government hit out at Greek Cypriot side for deporting tourists, vows to take action
The government of the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus has lashed out at the Greek Cypriot side for deporting tourists bound to north Cyprus.
According to report by Cyprus Today, the TRNC government said it will ‘take action’ if Greek Cypriot side maintains the ‘unacceptable’ policy of stopping tourists from vising the northern part of the island.
Deputy Prime Ministry and Foreign Ministry on Wednesday warned that it will take action against the Greek Cypriot administration if it continued to stop travelers from crossing their mutual border.
The statement came after a group of Israeli tourists intending to make their way into Northern Cyprus were held at Larnaca International Airport on the Greek side and subsequently deported.
The Ministry expressed its “sadness” over the move, which it said was “arbitrary” and “illegal.”
The behaviour shown [by the Greek Cypriot administration] is unacceptable and it is the product of a mindset attempting to prevent our interaction with the world […], the ministry said.
