Student who fell from a building in Lefkosa dies from head injury
A student who was taken to a Lefkosa hospital for treatment last week has died from injuries he had after falling from a building.
According to reports by several Turkish Cypriot news sources, Yeneduzen, Kibris postasi, Havadis, Kibris Gazetesi, on Saturday last week, (read here) a student (age not confirmed) was seriously injured after falling from the second floor of an apartment building located in Kizilbash region, near Lefkosa on Friday evening for fear of being evicted by his landlord.
Information reaching us from reliable sources discredited the reports by Turkish Cypriot media, stating that the victim was not a tenant in the apartment but was one of the visitors to the tenant of the apartment and had only visited when the unfortunate incident happened.
This information was also confirmed and corroborated by residents, his friends and the authorities in Lefkosa.
Another source who confided in us said, there were four boys in the apartment at the time of the incident and for fear that it may be the police carrying out a raid in the area, the boys decided to escape by jumping down from the balcony of the apartment located on the third floor of the building. Three of them jumped down and sustained a minor injury but the fourth person landed on the floor awkwardly and injured his head.
He was taken to a hospital in Lefkosa and admitted to the intensive care unit where he was said to be battling for his life.
He reportedly died on Wednesday evening at the hospital.
