Man leaves steak in a car for five hours only to return to see it cooked!

There may still be frosty mornings in the UK but over in Australia it is hot AF as a record-breaking heatwave continues – it’s so hot, in fact, that you could leave raw meat in a car and comeback to it a tasty well-done, apparently.

This is exactly what one employee of the Mildura Dockside Café, in Victoria, claimed to do in an attempt to raise awareness about the dangers of overheating cars.

On the café’s Facebook page, they posted three images, one of a raw steak in a metal tin left in the car and two more of the steak cooked brown right through.

The post claims the steak was left in the car at 11am and returned to at 4pm – so it had sat in the vehicle as temperatures were reported to have soared to 46C.

Along with the photos the café posted:

Yesterday at 11am I put a porterhouse steak in my car which was parked in the shade and left it until 4 pm. It was very well done upon my return.

With this heat wave please remember never to leave children, elderly or animals in the car. Always check on elderly neighbours, ensure your pets have a way to keep cool and cool drinking water.
Also always remember down at Dockside we have plenty of activities to cool you down, yummy cold drinks, great aircon and we are pet friendly out on the deck.

The message the café has tried to get across is very clear – it can be very dangerous to leave things, people and animals in hot cars.

One person supported the café saying:

A car turns into an oven. Get the message people!!!

However, some people were sceptical of the authenticity of the café’s post, as one person commented:

I’m sorry I’m calling bullshit. A car left IN THE SUN will get up to about 60 to 70 degrees C inside. In the shade? Nope. Not going to get “well done. It’s a good message, but don’t take people for fools.

The Mildura Dockside Café responded to the comment with:

I also wasn’t sure what would happen when I put it in there either. I was just as shocked at the result as many others have been.

I also believe we’re straying from my initial reason for doing such a thing, I wanted to remind people how dangerous this heat can be and that as a community we should be looking out for one another n keeping each other safe.

Temperatures in south and central Australia are reported to reach heights of 48C as the country experiences a record-breaking heatwave.
