Greek Cypriot police arrested 16-year-old boy caught with cannabis

Greek Cypriot police on Monday arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of being involved in drug dealing after three grams of cannabis was allegedly found in his bag in a Paphos lyceum.

During the school’s break on Monday morning,  two men whom the Drug Enforcement Unit (YKAN) had been following, entered the schoolyard in a saloon car.

YKAN officers searched the car and found 27 grams of cannabis, a grinder and a scale inside.

They arrested the men aged 21 and 22, along with the 16 year old who was in the car with them.

The three were remanded in custody for three days by Paphos District Court on Tuesday.

The issue of drug dealing in the city’s schools has been known to authorities and the School Board for a long time.
