44-year-old man found shot dead in his car in Limassol

A 44-year-old man was found dead in his car with a bullet wound to the chest on Monday afternoon in Limassol, south Cyprus and police believe he is a victim of a suspected murder.
According to report by Greek Cypriot daily, Cyprus Mail, a woman passing by spotted the body of the man in his car at around 3pm in a field near the Limassol general hospital, and alerted the police.
The 44-year-old was found dead with a bullet wound to the chest. It is believed he was shot on Sunday night. The victim has not yet been named.
According to state broadcaster CyBC, police located broken plastic parts of the car elsewhere in the field, and speculated that he had most probably met his killer or killers on the top of a nearby hill, in Kale Vounari, and after he was shot tried to escape, but his vehicle veered off course and went downhill and was immobilised by a wooden structure in the field.
Residents reportedly told police they had heard gun shots on Sunday night.
Unconfirmed reports claim that the suspected murder is drug-related and that the 44-year-old had prior dealings with the police.
