Two students sentenced to one year imprison each for drug crime
Two students who was arrested in Girne and taken to court on April 6 has been sentenced to one year imprison each for drug crime.
The accused, 21-year-old, Lara Bırkdar from Syria and 25-year-old, Jennet Jumanyyazova from Turkmenistan were found guilty by a Girne court on Tuesday of drug savings.
During a search in their apartment located at Hasan Tahsin Street in Girne in April, 6, 42 grams of cigars, 10 LSD and 1 extacy pills were found in their possession which they had bought for personal use.
One of the defendant, Bırkdar had previously studied in Amsterdam, but left due to financial difficulties and came to North Cyprus, while Jumanyyazova was working and studying in the country.
After evaluating all the cases, the judge sentenced both defendants to 1 year of imprisonment.
