6 people including students arrested in Famagusta peace operation (photos)

Several people including students were arrested by the Special Operation Unit of the Famagusta Police Department teams and Police Special Operations Directorate teams on Saturday night in a peace and public security operations carried out in Famagusta.

The Special Operations Unit armed with automatic rifle carried out the operation between the hours of 12:00am to 1:00am.

The rigorous operation was carried out throughout Famagusta.

Within the scope of the operation, casinos, night clubs, bet offices, coffeehouses, workers' houses and pensions were also checked.

According to media report, 6 arrests were made and 173 legal proceedings initiated in court.

Among those arrested, 4 people were residing illegally in the TRNC and 2 people were believed to be involved in drugs.

650 vehicles and drivers were checked and legal legal action was initiated against 166 vehicle drivers who were found to have committed crimes and 7 vehicles were banned from traffic.

17 people were banned from entering the casino and legal proceedings were initiated against them.
