4 million people used the Ercan airport so far in 2018
Approximately four million passengers used the Ecran airport in north Cyprus between January and November this year, reports said.
According to daily Halkin Sesi, around 3.5 million passengers arrived in north Cyprus through scheduled flights at the Ercan airport, and 218,972 on chartered ones. Another 1,645 passengers flew by private flights.
The majority of the 24,744 flights that took place during the period were scheduled routes, while there were also 1,715 charter flights and 695 private flights.
Tourism Minister’ Fikri Ataoglou, also speaking in ‘parliament’ during the discussion of his ‘ministry’s’ budget, announced that he is making efforts for the increase of flights and that within two to three months the Turkish company Anadolu Jet will resume flights to and from the TRNC and this will lead to a reduction in the price of air tickets.

Transport Minister’ Tolga Atakan reportedly told ‘parliament’ on Friday that they were looking into the construction of a railway linking areas in north Cyprus with the new terminal being constructed at Ercan.
