US to reinstate all Iran sanctions

Trump administration set to reinstate all Iran sanctions lailasnews
The Donald Trump administration is set to reimpose all sanctions against Iran that had been lifted as part of the 2015 nuclear agreement.

This was made known earlier today by the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, he said;

On November 5th, the United States will reimpose sanctions that were lifted as part of the nuclear deal on Iran’s energy, shipbuilding, shipping, and banking sectors.

Pompeo also said the US will grant temporary waivers to eight “jurisdictions” from energy related sanctions that will also be reimposed on Monday as the Trump administration seeks to ratchet up pressure on the Iranian regime.

Amid concerns about the sanctions’ impact on global energy supplies and prices, President Donald Trump followed up on Pompeo’s comments by tweeting a “Game of Thrones”-style image of himself with the words “sanctions are coming.”

The US has been gradually re-imposing sanctions since it unilaterally withdrew from the agreement, but analysts say this move is the most important because it targets the core sectors of Iran’s economy.

An Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said Iran was unconcerned at the return of sanctions, Reuters reports.
