Student caught stealing from a grocery store in Girne
A Nigerian student has been arrested after he was caught shop lifting in a grocery store in Girne.
The accused was caught red handed on Friday stealing goods worth 231TL in the grocery store he entered as a customer.
Police said the accused was caught by the super market employee and was arrested after reviewed camera images detected the incident. The stolen goods were returned to the shop.
The accused who is a master's student in one of the universities in north Cyprus was taken to a Girne court on Friday.
He confessed to the crime in court and told the court that after he return from school, he was very hungry and had no money.
He apologized for his actions.
He was released on collateral and banned from leaving the country until investigation is completed.
