Student arrested on accusation of raping a 15-year-old girl in Girne

A student has been arrested in Girne for allegedly raping her next door neighbor's 15-year-old daughter.

The accused who was arrested on Sunday and taken to a Girne court on Monday on charges of sexual assault however denied the allegation arguing that the child's mental balance was not in place.

He refused the charges brought against him.

The accused told the court that he has never touched the child once adding that on several occasion, the child's mother has called for his help when the child runs away from home.

He was given a three day detention period pending medical examination and police investigation.
