Student arrested for trying to cross over to south Cyprus illegally

An African student who arrived the country legally in September has been arrested after he was caught trying to cross into south Cyprus illegally.

The accused, C.A came legally into the country in September for studies but then decided to cross over to south Cyprus through the Haspolat province on Sunday night.

He was caught red handed by soldiers while trying to cross illegally.

He was taken to a Lefkosa court on charges of violation of military zone.

The accused came into the country on September , 28, 2018 through the Ercan airport and have a 90 days stay.

He was granted bail with 5,000 TL and sent to prison for a period of three months because he could not meet the bail condition.
